poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP)
Chemical formula
(C6H9NO)n
General description
Poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) can form complexes with phenolics and alkaloids. The complex formation allows removal of phenolics and alkaloids from plant samples, thereby inhibiting any modification of proteins by them and any hindrance they may cause in spectrophotometric determinations of protein content. PVP might also enhances the stability of enzymes.
Our innovation in the production of PVP
Developed by us the solvent- and catalyst-free, high-pressure PVP synthetic strategy based on two-component system (only monomer+free-radical thermoinitiator) led to the production of polymers of unique physicochemical properties (the absence of peroxides in the final polymer, the strictly defined molecular weight Mn=16-360 kg/mol, moderate dispersity Đ=1.40-1.90, the higher glass transition temperature) competing with commercially available products.
