Dr inż. Paulina Maksym

Ph.D., D. Eng, Assistant Professor

Paulina obtained her MSc Eng. degree in Chemical Technology (specialization: Technology of Polymer and Plastics) at the Silesian University of Technology. In 2011, she started her Ph.D. studies in Polymer Chemistry at her home university (supervisor, Professor Dorota Neugebauer). She obtained her doctoral degree in 2016 and started two years of post-doctoral research at the Institute of Physics, University of Silesia (Professor Paluch group). Since 2019, she is working as Assistant Professor at the Institute of Physics. She is the PI of the SONATA project entitled “Innovative methods of polymerization of less activated LAMs monomers,” financed by the National Science Center. Her scientific interests are mainly controlled polymerization processes (ATRP, RAFT, ROP), innovative polymerization strategies under high-pressure and 2D confinement conditions, and production of tailored ionic and non-ionic polymers for biomedical and (Opto)electrical applications. “I am interested in breaking barriers in polymerization processes by using external factors as compression or spatial restriction. I enjoy cycling and built plastic military models, especially tanks.“
